Workshop Boilermakers

Due to increasing demand, we are looking for workshop Boilermaker / Welders to join our growing team, based in Harvey, Western Australia for an immediate start.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide daily reliable transport to & from work.

  • Ensuring you are reliable & punctual for each of your required shifts.

  • Attending the daily prestart meetings with the workshop personnel covering the daily work scopes, HSE and Quality requirements & overall expectations of the daily targets in a production environment.

  • Reporting to the Workshop Leading Hand & Supervisor.

  • Conduct boilermaker / welder duties within the workshop & site locations.

  • Having a keen eye for quality workmanship & detail.

  • Ensuring all assigned work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Ensuring the workshop environment is safe & that all personnel are protected from any potential hazards.

  • Consult & liaise with management & supervisors, on all safety & environmental issues.

  • Influence, support & maintain a positive team culture within the workshop environment.

  • Assist in the coaching & support of apprentices to develop their skills as boilermaker / welders while building their confidence within the trade.

This role requires:

  • Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Welder

  • Experience in manufacturing of structural steel, plate work & chutes

  • Ability to read & interpret fabrication drawings.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Ability & willingness to work Day & Afternoon shift (8hr afternoon shift)

  • Minimum working hours are 38 hours per week with additional overtime available.

  • Must reside within 100km of Harvey WA.

  • Adhoc site work in close proximity to the Harvey workshop.

Desirable Criteria but not essential:

  • Tig welding experience

  • Press brake experience & operation

  • Pipe spool fabrication & welding

  • Manual driver’s license

  • LR Driver’s license (or higher)

  • Forklift license

  • EWP license

  • CN Crane license

  • Dogging & Rigging ticket

  • Working at Heights ticket

  • Confined Space ticket

Leading Hand Boilermaker

Due to increasing demand, we are looking for an experienced Leading Hand Boilermaker to join our growing team, based in Harvey, Western Australia for an immediate start.

Your responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor.

  • Liaising daily with the Workshop Supervisor conducting continual planning to ensure workflow & daily production targets are met.

  • Assisting the workshop supervisor to plan all aspects of assigned work to workshop personnel.

  • Assisting the workshop supervisor with prestart meetings with the workshop personnel covering the daily work scopes, HSE and Quality requirements and overall expectations in a production environment.

  • Assisting the Workshop Supervisor with coordinating 5-10 personnel per shift (Boilermaker Welders, Trades Assistants and Apprentices).

  • Assisting the workshop supervisor with managing and controlling the activities of the workshop personnel to ensure maximum performance and efficiencies are maintained daily.

  • Always maintain & review safe work areas and practices at all times within the workshop environment.

  • Constantly study the workflow and practices of workshop personnel with the workshop supervisor to identifying areas where changes or implementation of new procedures will be of benefit to the overall productivity of the fabrication workshop.

  • Provide clear instructions & direction to all personnel with how to complete allocated task’s & jobs assigned to them.

  • Provide & assist as required with adhoc boilermaker / welder duties within the workshop & site locations.

  • Assisting the workshop supervisor with ensuring all projects are delivered on time & on budget.

  • Ensuring the workshop environment is safe and that all personnel are protected from any potential hazards.

  • Consult and liaise with management, supervisors, safety representatives and employees on all safety and environmental issues.

  • Influence, support & maintain a team culture within the workshop environment.

  • Overall ensuring all products are manufactured in a safe manner & to the highest quality ensuring it’s within the budgeted allocation time frames.

  • Coach and support trade personnel to develop their skills as boilermaker / welders while building their confidence within the trade.

  • Assist with oversee the training of apprentices & their trade development.

This role requires:

  • Trade qualification as a Boilermaker Welder

  • Manual driver’s license

  • Forklift License

  • Minimum 2 years post apprenticeship experience in a fabrication workshop

  • Experience in manufacturing of structural steel, chutes and pipe spooling.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Good computer skills

  • The ability to prioritise with conflicting & changing job priorities, complex problem solving and working under pressure.

  • Ability and willingness to work Day & Afternoon shift

  • Minimum working hours are 47.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri)

  • Keen eye for quality & detail

Desirable requirements:

  • LR Driver’s license (or higher)

Fabrication Supervisor

Due to increasing demand, we are looking for a Fabrication Supervisor to join our growing team, based in Harvey, Western Australia for an immediate start and oversee our manufacturing operations. This role is a vital link between the workshop floor and management.

Your responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Workshop Manager

  • Liaising daily with the Workshop Manager conducting continual planning to ensure workflow & daily production targets are met.

  • Daily scheduling reviews, production planning & discussions with Workshop Manager

  • Overall supervision with your leading hand of the workshop fabrication team consisting of trades people, apprentices, and trades assistants.

  • Ensuring that all products leaving the workshop conform to the company quality standards.

  • Ensuring the daily allocation of workshop personnel & resources are correct to enable products to be manufactured on time and on budget.

  • Conducting daily prestart meetings with the workshop personnel covering the daily work scopes, HSE and Quality requirements and overall expectations in a production environment

  • Supervise and coordinate 5-10 personnel per shift (Boilermaker Welders, Trades Assistants and Apprentices).

  • Managing and controlling the activities of the workshop personnel to ensure maximum performance and efficiencies are maintained daily.

  • Managing all workshop personnels daily performance including scheduled formal performance reviews.

Essential requirements:

  • Trade qualification as a Boilermaker / Welder

  • Manual driver’s license

  • Forklift License

  • Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a fabrication workshop

  • Effective people skills to be able to gain respect of tradespersons while being able to manage performance.

  • Ability to learn and implement new knowledge

  • The ability to prioritise with conflicting & changing job priorities, complex problem solving and working under pressure.

  • Ability to identify and implement improvements in work processes in the workshop environment

  • Ability and willingness to work Day & Afternoon shift

  • Minimum working hours are 47.5 hours per week (Mon – Fri)

  • Keen eye for quality & detail

Desirable requirements:

  • LR Driver’s license (or higher)

  • EWP Ticket

  • CN Crane ticket

  • Dogging and Rigging Ticket

  • Working at Heights & Confined Space

  • CSWIP or equivalent welding inspection certificate

  • Good Mechanical aptitude

Crane Operator - All Rounder

We are currently seeking a Crane Operator / All Rounder for a permanent ongoing role, with an immediate start, based within our Harvey Workshop

Duties required for the role:

  • Minimum work hours are 6am – 4pm (Monday – Friday)

  • Franna crane operation within the workshop, yard & on-site locations.

  • General rigging / dogging duties within the workshop, yard & on-site locations.

  • General workshop cleaning & minor maintenance.

  • Weekly cleaning of company vehicles & mobile equipment.

  • General workshop, yard duties & maintenance.

  • General forklift operation within the workshop & yard environment.

  • Checking off received goods with accuracy & efficiency.

  • Assisting trades in the workshop as required.

  • Basic maintenance of workshop equipment.

  • Daily / weekly / monthly pre starts and inspections on vehicles and workshop equipment.

  • Accurately completing all required daily & weekly paperwork for the role.

  • Being flexible & available for any potential weekend crane operator requirements on an adhoc basis.

To be considered for this role the following are essential:

  • Experience with operating 25t Franna Cranes or similar sizes within various environments.

  • Demonstrated commitment to occupational health and safety, with safe work practices in a workshop.

  • Ability to comply with ongoing Drug & Alcohol policy.

  • HR Drivers Licence

  • CN Crane ticket

  • Basic Rigging & Basic Dogging (as a minimum)

  • Forklift Licence

  • Be located within close proximity of Harvey, Western Australia (or willing to relocate prior to starting the role)

The following are advantageous:

  • Ridged truck driving experience up to 10 tonne

  • Electrical Test and Tag ticket

  • Confined Space (current within 2 years)

  • Working at Heights (current within 2 years)

Shutdown Boilermakers, Fitters & Trade Assistants

HavCon Engineering require suitably skilled and experienced boilermakers, fitters & trade assistants for scheduled fixed plant shutdown work.

 

The shifts are 10-12 hours, day and potential night shifts.


Essential Criteria:


•    Australian Trade Qualification
•    Manual Drivers Licence
•    Nationally Recognised Working at Heights (current within 2 years)
•    Nationally Recognised Confined Space (current within 2 years)
•    Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
•    Previous shutdown experience is highly advantageous

Desirable Criteria for BMW:


•    EWP Ticket
•    Rigging / Dogging

What you need to know:

  • 10-12 Hour Shifts

  • Day & potential Night shifts

  • Shutdown duration varies from 1-5 days on the tools

  • Current Shutdowns are based within the South West Region of WA

All successful Boilermaker Welder applicants will be required to complete a once off 3F & 4F weld test and basic fabrication test as well as a face to face interview in our workshop in Harvey, Western Australia.
